India has mobilized an 80-member National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team to assist Myanmar in search and rescue operations following the devastating earthquake that has claimed nearly 700 lives. The team, composed of highly trained personnel, will depart on Saturday to provide immediate aid to the affected regions, officials confirmed, According to a report by Hindustan Times
Close to 700 people have lost their lives, with an additional 1,700 injured in Myanmar’s Mandalay region. The powerful tremors also impacted neighboring Thailand, where 10 fatalities were reported in Bangkok.

A senior NDRF officer stated that most of the team members belong to the 8th battalion based in Ghaziabad, renowned for their expertise in disaster relief. “Many of these rescuers played a crucial role in search and rescue operations during the Turkey earthquake. They will work alongside Myanmar authorities and begin operations as soon as they arrive. Their experience in handling similar natural disasters will be invaluable,” the official said to HT.
