Mumbai: The security of Mumbai has come under scrutiny following the midnight attack on actor Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra residence. While Mumbai Police claims to have arrested the attacker, allegations have surfaced that the arrested individual does not resemble the person seen in the CCTV footage. Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole has demanded that Mumbai Police clarify the matter and present the truth to the public.

Addressing the media at Tilak Bhavan, Patole criticized the state government, stating that even high-profile individuals are no longer safe, let alone common citizens. He attributed the deteriorating law and order situation to the appointment of retired police officers to critical positions, questioning their efficiency. Patole emphasized that the attack on Saif Ali Khan is a law and order issue, not a religious one, but accused some BJP leaders of giving it a communal spin.

Patole also questioned the BJP’s governance, recalling the unresolved CBI investigation into actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, which he claimed highlights the government’s failure to deliver justice. He added that politicizing such issues for a religious agenda tarnishes Maharashtra’s legacy.

Criticizing the BJP’s “Ladki Bhain” scheme, Patole alleged that flaws in its implementation allowed illegal beneficiaries, including Bangladeshis, to exploit the program. He questioned how such individuals entered India under the Modi government’s watch and called out the BJP’s claims of strong governance.

Patole demanded accountability for public funds wasted on flawed schemes and urged the government to focus on improving security and addressing administrative lapses.
