Mumbai: Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar marked polling day in Mumbai by turning up at a voting booth with his family to cast his ballot in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Elections 2026. The former Indian captain was accompanied by his wife Anjali Tendulkar and other family members, drawing attention as voters lined up across the city.

Calm and approachable at the polling station, Tendulkar briefly interacted with officials and citizens, reinforcing the message that participation in elections is a shared civic duty. Images of the Tendulkar family outside the booth quickly circulated online, with many applauding the batting legend for once again encouraging democratic participation, especially at the local governance level.

Known for consistently appealing to citizens—particularly young voters—to exercise their right to vote, Tendulkar’s presence at the polls added to the buzz around the high-stakes BMC elections, which decide the leadership of India’s wealthiest municipal body.

Away from civic duties, the Tendulkar household is also gearing up for a major personal celebration. Sachin Tendulkar’s son, Arjun Tendulkar, is set to marry his fiancée Saaniya Chandhok on March 5, 2026. The upcoming wedding has generated considerable interest, bringing together prominent names from the worlds of sports and business.

Arjun, who has represented teams in domestic cricket and the IPL, got engaged to Saaniya—an entrepreneur and granddaughter of noted Mumbai businessman Ravi Ghai—in a private ceremony in August 2025. The wedding celebrations are expected to be low-key, reflecting the family’s preference for keeping personal milestones intimate.
