A fresh political storm has erupted in Maharashtra after Rohit Pawar raised serious questions over the continued operations of aircraft linked to VSR Ventures, months after a deadly plane crash shook the state.
The controversy intensified after rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh shared a video of himself arriving in Mumbai via a chartered flight reportedly operated by the company. In the clip posted on social media, Honey Singh announced his arrival for his concert at the MMRDA grounds in Bandra-Kurla Complex on March 28.
However, Pawar seized on the video to question why planes linked to VSR Ventures are still operational despite their alleged connection to a fatal crash earlier this year.
“Wrong Message Being Sent” — Pawar Attacks Govt
In a strongly worded post, Rohit Pawar alleged that while some aircraft of the company were grounded, several others continue to operate freely.
He further claimed that Honey Singh had previously performed at the wedding of VSR Ventures’ owner V. K. Singh, hinting at possible connections. Pawar criticised the state government, saying allowing such flights sends a “wrong message” to the public, especially when serious allegations remain unresolved.
He also questioned whether the company was being protected despite the gravity of the incident.
Baramati Crash Still Under Scanner
The controversy stems from the tragic Baramati Learjet 45 crash on January 28 near Baramati in Pune district, involving a Learjet 45 operated by VSR Ventures.
The incident remains under active investigation, with several unanswered questions surrounding the cause of the crash.
Questions Over Probe and Black Box Data
Rohit Pawar also raised concerns about statements allegedly made by VSR Ventures’ owner, who reportedly attributed the crash to pilot error even before official findings were released.
He suggested that such claims could be an attempt to shift blame prematurely.
The investigation is currently being handled by the Crime Investigation Department, which has questioned the company owner and recorded statements. However, authorities have not disclosed details of the interrogation so far.
Pawar further pointed out confusion regarding the aircraft’s black box data, citing conflicting reports about whether it was recovered intact or damaged.
Silence of Agencies Raises Doubts
The MLA criticised investigative agencies for maintaining silence and urged that only verified and transparent information be shared with the public.
With political pressure mounting and fresh allegations emerging, the controversy is once again bringing the Baramati crash into sharp focus, raising serious concerns over aviation safety, accountability, and possible political shielding.
As the probe continues, the issue is expected to remain a major talking point in Maharashtra politics.
