Pune: Maharashtra leader Rohit Pawar has accused certain political figures and their associates of orchestrating a large-scale takeover of land belonging to Jain religious trusts in Pune, calling for a thorough investigation and justice for the affected community.

In a strong statement on Twitter, Pawar alleged that a 3.5-acre parcel of land belonging to Jain trusts was seized through a network of conspiracies. He further claimed that some ruling-party leaders and their relatives were financially involved and acted as partners in the alleged land grab.

Pawar criticized those who claim to be proponents of Hindutva, stating that they allegedly sacrificed religious sanctity for business and profit, even targeting Jain temples. He drew a parallel with the Navi Mumbai SIDCO land case, noting how political patronage accelerates approvals and manipulations.

The leader also raised concerns about pressure on journalist Omkar Wable, who exposed the alleged irregularities, describing such intimidation as “unacceptable”. Pawar urged the media to pursue the matter to its logical conclusion without compromise and reaffirmed that journalistic independence must not be undermined.

Calling for justice, Pawar pledged solidarity with the Jain community and demanded that the government intervene to ensure restitution. He warned that if authorities fail to act, he and his party have sufficient evidence to mobilize public protest.
