Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde delivered a warning on Tuesday, cautioning his political rival and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief, Uddhav Thackeray, against continued mockery. Shinde’s remarks came during a “government at your doorstep” event held in Pachora taluka, Jalgaon.

During his address, Shinde referenced his recent encounter with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at the G-20 Summit dinner, which was hosted by President Droupadi Murmu on September 9 in Delhi. Shinde used this interaction to take a jibe at his political adversary.

“Sunak asked me how UT was. When I enquired why he was asking me about UT, Sunak told me that UT visits London every year, makes properties, and has a cozy stay during his visits,” CM Shinde revealed, before asking the crowd if they knew who “UT” referred to.

On September 10, Uddhav Thackeray had addressed a public rally in Jalgaon and poked fun at Shinde for posting a picture of himself with British PM Rishi Sunak during the G20 dinner on social media. Thackeray had inquired about the conversation between Shinde and Sunak and the language used during their interaction.

CM Shinde, while recounting his conversation with Sunak, stated, “I complimented Indian-origin Sunak for becoming the PM of Britain. My political adversary is making such remarks out of jealousy. Do not provoke me to reveal certain things that will force you to take Patankar Kadha (an ayurvedic medicine meant for stomach ailments).”

Shinde also commented on his political adversary’s demeanor, suggesting that Thackeray “appears to have become mentally unstable following his loss of power.” He further quipped, “It seems like my government may need to initiate a ‘doctor at your doorstep’ initiative to assist individuals in such a state.”

The exchange of words between the two prominent political figures highlights the ongoing political rivalry in Maharashtra and adds a unique dimension with references to international encounters and health remedies.
