Red Fort Bomb Threat Sparks Security Scare in Delhi; Police Declare Alert a Hoax

A bomb threat targeting Delhi’s historic Red Fort triggered a major security response on Saturday after an anonymous caller alerted the Mumbai Police control room. The information was immediately shared with Delhi Police, prompting security agencies to launch an investigation.

However, after carrying out verification and searches, police confirmed that the threat was fake and declared it a hoax.

Mumbai Alert Leads to Security Operation in Delhi

According to police officials, the caller warned that the Red Fort would be blown up. Mumbai Police passed the information to the Delhi Police Control Room, which then alerted the North District Police for immediate action.

Security teams rushed to the area and conducted extensive checks before concluding that no explosive or suspicious object had been found.

A Delhi Police official said, “The information received from the Mumbai Police control room was thoroughly investigated. After verification, the threat was found to be a hoax.”

Fresh Threats Keep Security Agencies on Alert

The Red Fort alert came on the same day that the Delhi Secretariat also received a bomb threat through email, prompting another round of security checks by police, bomb disposal squads and fire department officials.

Authorities said nothing suspicious was recovered during the search operations.

Earlier, two schools in the national capital had also received bomb threat emails, leading to evacuations and inspections. Those alerts too were eventually found to be false.

Red Fort Blast Case Investigation Continues

Separately, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) continues its investigation into last year’s deadly vehicle-borne bomb blast near the Red Fort.

Earlier this week, the agency submitted a forensic report before a special court and the judicial custody of several accused was extended. The NIA has already filed charge sheets against multiple accused in the terror case as investigations continue.
