Srinagar: In a commendable humanitarian effort, the Red Drop Organisation, in collaboration with Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla, organized a blood donation camp at Government Hospital, Langate. The event saw overwhelming participation from local donors, with a minimum of 70 blood points collected.
The primary objective of the camp was to ensure the availability of blood for patients in emergency situations, potentially saving numerous lives. Dr. Towseef Ahmad, President of Red Drop Organisation, along with Shabir Hussain, widely known as the “Blood Man of Kashmir,” and Bilkeesa Ara, the “Blood Woman of Kashmir,” expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all the donors. They urged the public to actively contribute to such noble causes, emphasizing that blood donation is a lifesaving act.
Dr. Towseef further highlighted the significance of such initiatives, stating that a single blood donation could save up to three lives. He encouraged the youth to step forward and donate blood regularly, reinforcing the vital role of voluntary blood donation in healthcare and emergency medical situations.
The event was attended by several notable dignitaries, including DDC Mawar Sheikh Khursheed, former BDC Chairman Langate, Showkat Hussain Pandit, former Municipal Committee Langate Chairman, Advocate Shahnawaz, DO Langate, Rayees Ahmad, and other officials. Their presence underscored the importance of community-driven initiatives in strengthening healthcare services.
The blood donation camp successfully spread awareness about the critical need for blood donations, fostering a spirit of altruism and social responsibility among the participants.
