In a scathing critique of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has accused the government of prioritizing religious symbolism over addressing pressing national concerns. Speaking at a campaign event organized by the Congress party in Sakoli, Gandhi lambasted Modi’s penchant for high-profile gestures, such as performing rituals underwater and flying in a seaplane with military officers, which Gandhi described as “mockery” and diversionary tactics.

Gandhi highlighted the government’s failure to address critical issues like unemployment, inflation, and the plight of farmers and workers, lamenting that media attention is disproportionately focused on Bollywood celebrities, cricketers, and Modi himself, while overlooking the concerns of ordinary citizens.

Moreover, Gandhi criticized Modi’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly his calls for symbolic gestures like clapping and using mobile phone torches, which Gandhi characterized as insufficient measures in the face of a national crisis. He contrasted Modi’s actions with those of leaders in other countries who prioritized saving lives over symbolic gestures.

Accusing the government of misleading the public and favoring industrialists over the welfare of ordinary citizens, Gandhi alleged a lack of transparency and accountability in Modi’s policies.

Meanwhile, at Gandhi’s rally in Bhandar, a lack of adequate planning resulted in overcrowding, with an estimated 100,000 people attending instead of the expected 50,000. Many attendees were left waiting outside due to the lack of arrangements, highlighting organizational challenges within the Congress party.
