Raj Thackeray’s recent announcement of unconditional support for Narendra Modi and the Grand Alliance in the Lok Sabha elections, made during MNS’s Gudipadwa meeting, has stirred up a storm in political circles. Leaders of the Mahavikas Aghadi have voiced their discontent with Thackeray’s decision, accusing him of succumbing to pressure from the BJP.
Criticism from Mahavikas Aghadi Leaders
Leaders from the Mahavikas Aghadi have launched scathing attacks on Raj Thackeray, suggesting that he yielded to BJP’s influence. Kishori Pednekar, a prominent figure within the Thackeray group, condemned Thackeray’s actions, labeling him as a “powerless tiger.” Pednekar expressed her disapproval while addressing the media in Mumbai on Saturday.
“Why did Raj Thackeray feel the need to hold a press conference after already extending unconditional support to the Mahayuti?” questioned Pednekar. She further criticized Thackeray’s party for continuously changing its stance since its inception, highlighting the inconsistency in Thackeray’s leadership.
Raj Thackeray’s Defense
In response to the backlash, Raj Thackeray reiterated his position during a subsequent press conference. He defended his decision, citing the pending Ram temple issue and crediting Narendra Modi for addressing it. Thackeray emphasized the importance of giving Modi another chance, particularly regarding unresolved issues.
Campaigning for the Grand Alliance
Thackeray announced that the MNS would actively campaign for the grand alliance, assigning responsibilities to party workers and office bearers. However, it remains uncertain whether Thackeray himself will participate in the campaign for the Mahayuti.
The aftermath of Raj Thackeray’s support declaration continues to reverberate across political spheres, with contrasting viewpoints emerging regarding his alliance decisions and their implications for the upcoming elections.
