In a recent statement, Ramdas Athawale, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment of India, revealed that his party would have considered joining forces with the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) in Maharashtra if their intentions were solely focused on contesting elections.

Athawale disclosed during an interview with Free Press Journal that allies of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) approached him after the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) withdrew their support from the alliance and decided to independently contest the polls. However, Athawale declined the offer, reiterating his commitment to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and expressing his intention to remain under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The minister disclosed that he was invited by the MVA in Maharashtra to join their coalition and participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. However, Athawale dismissed the talks for an alliance, emphasizing that if he desired seats to contest, he would have aligned with the Prakash Ambedkar-led Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA).

Athawale further emphasized his bond with Prakash Ambedkar, highlighting their mutual respect despite belonging to different political parties. He stated that while both individuals have distinct political affiliations, they refrain from engaging in blame game politics.

Addressing the possibility of collaborating with Prakash Ambedkar in politics, Athawale expressed his willingness to work under Ambedkar’s leadership. He reiterated his stance that the Republican Party of India (A) can effectively operate under Ambedkar’s guidance.

Athawale also dispelled rumors of discord between him and Ambedkar regarding leadership issues. He affirmed his readiness to work under Ambedkar’s leadership on the condition that Ambedkar merges the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi into the Republican Party of India (A), emphasizing the latter’s commitment to the welfare of marginalized communities.
