New Delhi: Amid rising speculation that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal may seek a Rajya Sabha seat, political rivals have launched a scathing attack, claiming that such a move will not shield him from corruption allegations. Congress leader Udit Raj went a step further, asserting that Kejriwal is “destined” for Tihar Jail.

Speaking to NEWSAGENCY, Udit Raj accused Kejriwal of remotely controlling the Punjab government and questioned whether the people of Punjab wanted him as their Rajya Sabha MP. “He has been an activist from the beginning… I don’t think he will escape the accusations against him. Even if he enters Rajya Sabha, his fate is sealed—he is headed to Tihar. Maybe he should focus on reforming prisoners there and become the CM of Tihar Jail,” he remarked sarcastically.

Adding fuel to the fire, BJP leader and Union Minister Anurag Thakur accused Kejriwal of being the “kingpin” of the Delhi liquor scam and attempting to enter Rajya Sabha through the “backdoor” to escape scrutiny. Thakur alleged that Kejriwal deliberately stalled 14 CAG reports from being tabled in the Delhi Assembly to hide AAP’s corruption. “Now that the reports have been exposed under CM Rekha Gupta’s leadership, Kejriwal’s role in the scam is crystal clear. To save face, he is making Rajya Sabha MPs vacate their seats so he can sneak in,” Thakur said.

The speculation around Kejriwal’s Rajya Sabha entry gained traction after AAP nominated sitting MP Sanjiv Arora for the Ludhiana West assembly bypoll, raising questions about who would fill his soon-to-be-vacant seat.
