Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra makes footfall in Nanded, Maharashtra to a rapturous response

Mumbai: The historic Bharat Jodo Yatra arrived in Maharashtra on its 61st day on Tuesday in Nanded district where Rahul Gandhi was welcomed by Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) office bearers at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Statue, Kalamandir, in Degloor where after the yatris took the Unity Torches (Ekta Mashaal) to lead the march. The yatra was welcomed at the Nanded border to a rapturous response from the crowd of supporters.

In all 119 Bharat yatris led by Rahul Gandhi accompanied by 600 Pradesh yatris and thousands of Atithi Yatris and locals walked up to Gurudwara Yaadgari baba Zoravar Singh ji, baba Fateh Singh ji around midnight where they participated in Gurunanak Gurupurab Ardaas on the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Jayanti.

The Maharashtra leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra kickstarted in the morning from Degloor towards Naigaon with the flag force of the Seva Dal as a matter of tradition and halted at Vannali for the day break. Unfortunately, just before the break one of the Seva Dal General Secretaries Krishna Kumar Pandey passed away after holding the tricolour high while leading the procession in his last moments.

As the shockwave went down the whole delegation of yatris, they observed silence leading to a condolence meeting at the campsite. Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, Digvijay Singh, Jairam Ramesh, Ashok Chauhan, Nana Patole, Balasaheb Thorat, HK Patil and all the yatris paid homage to the departed soul after the guard of honour was held. All public meetings and interactions were cancelled as a result and the yatra continued in silence during its evening leg.

Having walked from Kanyakumari through Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, the yatra will resume from Naigaon on its 63rd day on November 9 and will proceed towards Vajirgaon Phata on its third day in Nanded district. So far, the yatris in the leadership of Rahul Gandhi have walked a total of 1682.1 kms as the yatra proceeds in its pursuit against Corruption, Inflation and Unemployment.
