Rahul Gandhi Alleges Fresh UGC-NET Exam Irregularities, Questions Centre Over Paper Leak Claims

Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday accused the Centre of failing to protect the integrity of competitive examinations, citing reports that alleged irregularities in the recently conducted UGC-NET examination.

In a post on X, Gandhi referred to media reports claiming that a confidential PDF containing question paper material was allegedly circulated before the examination. According to the reports cited by him, a large number of questions in the Sociology paper were said to closely resemble those contained in the document.

The Congress MP also pointed to reports alleging that the examination paper was being offered for sale in several states, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan. He claimed the alleged network was also promoting access to question papers for other upcoming competitive examinations.

Drawing parallels with previous controversies surrounding national entrance tests, Gandhi alleged that repeated allegations of paper leaks have eroded students’ trust in the examination system. He questioned the government’s response, saying aspirants who spend years preparing for competitive exams deserve transparency and accountability.

In his social media post, Rahul Gandhi alleged that despite earlier controversies involving national examinations, the government had failed to take adequate measures to restore confidence among students. He urged young people across the country to raise their voices collectively in support of reforms aimed at ensuring fair and transparent examinations.

The latest allegations come months after the controversy surrounding the NEET examination, which led to multiple investigations and arrests following claims of a paper leak. The examination was subsequently reconducted under enhanced security arrangements, while the Opposition continued to demand accountability from the government over the issue.
