“Rahul Gandhi Is Absolutely Wrong”: MoS Nityanand Rai Rebuts ‘Crime Capital’ Remark, Reminds of Bihar’s Jungle Raj Era

Patna: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai strongly countered Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s recent comment labelling Bihar as the “Crime Capital of India.” Rai accused Gandhi of making politically motivated and historically inaccurate remarks, asserting that the Congress leader had either forgotten or was deliberately ignoring the state’s troubled past.

“Rahul Gandhi is absolutely wrong in what he’s saying,” Rai said. “He seems to have forgotten the situation in Bihar from 1990 to 2005, when there was jungle raj, a reign of fear, lawlessness, and atrocities. Bihar had become infamous and sick during that time.”

The minister, a BJP leader from Bihar, reminded Gandhi that the state’s current situation is vastly different from the dark days of the 1990s and early 2000s. “He should remember that era and compare it to today’s Bihar and feel happy about the progress the state has made,” Rai added.

Rahul Gandhi’s comment, made during a recent rally in Uttar Pradesh, sparked strong reactions from Bihar’s political circles. While Gandhi cited NCRB data to suggest a spike in crime, Rai insisted the Congress leader was selectively misrepresenting facts and overlooking improvements made over the last two decades.
