New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has written to Union Health Minister J P Nadda and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, highlighting the dire conditions faced by hundreds of patients and their families outside AIIMS in Delhi. In his letters, Gandhi expressed concern over the plight of these individuals, who have been forced to huddle on footpaths and in subways due to inadequate facilities.

The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha described the situation as a “humanitarian crisis” and urged both the central and Delhi state governments to take immediate and concrete steps to resolve it. Gandhi also emphasized the need for strengthening the public healthcare system in the upcoming budget to ensure that necessary resources are allocated.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Gandhi shared his observations, noting that many patients and their families, who come from across the country to seek treatment at AIIMS, are left to endure freezing cold conditions. “Recently, I saw that in freezing cold these people are forced to sleep in the subway under the metro station, where there is no provision of drinking water or a toilet. There are heaps of garbage lying around,” Gandhi wrote.
