New Delhi: Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has been fined ₹200 by a court after failing to appear for a scheduled hearing today. His lawyer had submitted an exemption request, citing prior commitments, including a pre-scheduled meeting with a foreign dignitary. However, the court rejected the plea and directed Gandhi to compulsorily appear on April 14.
The case has gained political significance due to its links with historical and ideological debates surrounding Veer Savarkar, further fueling tensions between the Congress and BJP. Gandhi’s absence and the court’s strict stance have intensified discussions over the legal and political implications of the case.
