New Delhi: In a rapid response to the mounting military tension between India and Pakistan, the Punjab government has dispatched ten cabinet ministers to assess and bolster emergency preparedness in the state’s sensitive border districts. The move comes after reports of cross-border shelling and heightened security concerns in northern India.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the decision was taken during a high-level cabinet meeting held earlier today. “Punjab government is preparing to deal with the situation. Today, the ministers will review the emergency services in the border districts. Will inspect hospitals, fire stations, Will inspect the availability of ration and emergency services,” the statement said.

The ministers will immediately proceed to the affected regions to oversee critical infrastructure and ensure the state is well-prepared to handle any contingencies. The CMO further detailed the assignments: “Ministers Lal Chand Kataruchakk and Dr. Ravjot Singh will go to Gurdaspur. Ministers Kuldeep Dhaliwal and Mohinder Bhagat will take charge of Amritsar.”

This strategic deployment is aimed at reviewing hospitals, fire stations, stockpiles of essential supplies, and other key emergency services in areas vulnerable to potential cross-border action.

Amid the rising unease, the District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) in Amritsar issued a public advisory urging citizens to stay vigilant but calm. “All citizens are requested to stay indoors and away from the windows, keep lights turned off, and draw the window curtains. There is no need to panic. A siren will blow now, and we will pass the message again once it is clear,” the DPRO announced.

The official also praised the armed forces for their prompt response and emphasized the importance of public cooperation. “Our armed forces are on the job, and we need to support them by staying indoors. There is no need to panic,” he said.
