In a surprising turn of events, Prince William has pulled out of attending the memorial service for the late King Constantine of Greece, despite being scheduled to appear alongside other royals. The sudden decision, announced by Kensington Palace, cited a “personal matter” as the reason behind the Prince of Wales’ absence.

While the palace has remained tight-lipped about the specifics of Prince William’s unexpected withdrawal, it has explicitly stated that the decision is unrelated to any health concerns regarding his wife, Kate Middleton. The Duchess of Cambridge recently underwent abdominal surgery but is reported to be recovering well, with plans to return to her royal duties after Easter.

Originally, the Prince of Wales was set to attend the memorial service solo, as the Duchess continues her recovery. However, the palace confirmed that Prince Charles will also be absent from the event, as he undergoes treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer.

The absence of both senior royals leaves Queen Camilla to lead the royal delegation at the memorial. Joining her are Prince Andrew, his former wife Sarah Ferguson, and their daughter Princess Beatrice with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. Princess Anne, accompanied by Mike and Zara Tindall, is also among the attendees.

Notably, the late King Constantine’s widow, Queen Anne-Marie, and their son, Crown Prince Pavlos, along with his wife, Crown Princess Marie-Chantal, are present at the royal congregation. Ahead of his absence, Prince William personally contacted the Greek royal family to convey his apologies.

The unexpected withdrawal of Prince William and Prince Charles from such a significant event has sparked speculation and curiosity, leaving royal watchers eager for further clarification on the matter.
