US President Joe Biden didn’t hold back in a recent speech, taking a swipe at GOP frontrunner Donald Trump amid criticisms of his age and mental acuity. Responding to questions about his own age, the 81-year-old Biden quipped, “You gotta take a look at the other guy. He’s about as old as I am.”

In a thinly veiled jab at Trump’s recent gaffe at the CPAC event where he seemingly forgot his wife’s name, Biden remarked, “but he can’t remember his wife’s name.” This comment stirred speculation, with some interpreting it as a reference to Melania Trump, while others suggested it might have been aimed at Mercedes Schlapp, a former White House aide.

Biden continued his criticism, emphasizing that age is not the main issue but rather the age of one’s ideas. He accused Trump of wanting to regress on key issues, such as overturning Roe v. Wade, and returning to outdated principles from the past 50 to 60 years.

On the topic of immigration, Biden blamed Trump for obstructing bipartisan efforts to address the border crisis. He claimed that a border bill with bipartisan support was being held back because Trump personally intervened, allegedly to thwart any success that could benefit the Biden administration.

Biden’s remarks highlight the ongoing political tensions between the current president and his predecessor, setting the stage for what promises to be a heated battle in the upcoming election cycle.
