Mumbai: India with its culture spanning thousands of years, has been the temple of knowledge since ancient times and today in the age of expanding Science and Technology, artificial intelligence and machine learning, India continues to keep the relevance of its culture and tradition by amalgamating it and representing it through Technology on several fronts.
India has always understood the importance of having strong human capital as a resource to stride into the future and it does so by strengthening its new generation with skills that will support them in the changing times. It is with this thought that, ABACUS, mental & Vedic mathematics are widely taught across the country as extra-curricular activities.
Knowing their importance in the development of the faculties of the mind, the much-needed, focus, concentration and calm to perform well in life, it is only a matter of time that ABACUS & Vedic mathematics will take a prominent place in the education system in the days to come.
It was a proud moment for Wonder Kidz Learning Academy (WKLA) from Mumbai to organize for the first time in India, the Abacus and Mental Math Olympiad Championships (AMMOC), AIAMA (Abacusking International Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Alliance) at Radisson Blu, Mumbai, India on July 21.
A total of 243 girls and boys from 9 countries namely Sri Lanka, Panama, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Africa, Iran, Taiwan & India participated in this International Olympiad. Among the 213 participants from India, 113 from various centres of Wonder Kidz Learning Academy Mumbai, 52 from Utkarsh Creations, Pune, 10 from Buddhi Booster. Madhya Pradesh, 15 from Chennai & 23 from Rajasthan have made the country proud by winning in their respective groups at the international level.
Among the Indian contingent, 29 young talent from Wonder Kidz Learning Academy who demonstrated their mental prowess by securing the 1st position in their individual groups were Shlok Patil, Aalekh Matalia, Vaidehi Lawande, Vihana Janyani, Hiyan Shah, Prisha Shivdas, Yuvan Satam, Srishti Rao, Kaivalya Narkar, Vivaan Dodhia, Ridit Talwar, Gaargi Pai, Ahyaan Sayyed, Aaradhya Patil, Yash Bhaire, Apoorva Chaudhari, Karthik Tarapur, Avdhut Nakhwa, Khyati Ghag, Neha Kadam, Anay Patil, Sree Snigdha Jayanthi, Kush Bhadekar, Arni Datar, Shashwat Dasari, Rakshit Tiwari, Anushka Ghadage, Shriyans Kurmi and Spruha Apte.
The outstanding talent of Jay Bhangare and Viaan Gholap were recognized with the prestigious Gold Best of Best Award and a Prize money of $100 each, further adding to India’s laurels. India also bagged 4 Champion Trophy Awards as Radha Patil, Riaan Chandarana, Jivesh Manera & Juan Ma added a feather in the cap.
India bagged 6 out of 7 gold best of best awards, while Taiwan bagged 1 award in the same category. Teachers from Wonderful Kids Learning Academy, Leena Patil & Shruti Patil were awarded as best coaches and Aditi Sathe & Aparna Deshmukh were awarded as best teachers.
Master Rex Yang from Taiwan, the President of the Union, AIAMA congratulated and appreciated the President of India for AIAMA and the Director of Wonder Kids Learning Academy, Ashutosh Patil and his team for the smooth and successful conduct of this international competition.
Ruchita Rane, a trans-disciplinarian and the Head of Territory Development for Jammu & Kashmir at the Policy Advocacy Research Centre (PARC), Mumbai was the chief guest while Alex Lim from Malaysia, Rupali Thakkar from Panama, Sharne Bresler from South Africa, Dr Parera from Sri Lanka, Dr Alexander Taslim from Indonesia, Sue Tan from Malaysia, Mirzaei from Iran were among the dignitaries at the event. Master Rex Yang announced that the International Competition for 2025 will be held in South Korea.
