Washington, D.C.: President Donald Trump has signed a landmark executive order aimed at reforming the US election system, drawing inspiration from countries like India and Brazil, where voter identification is linked to biometric databases.

The order emphasizes that America, despite being a pioneer of democracy, lacks robust election protections compared to both developed and developing nations. “India and Brazil are tying voter identification to biometric databases, while the United States still relies on self-attestation for citizenship,” the order states.

Trump underscored the importance of free, fair, and transparent elections, insisting that every vote must be counted accurately and safeguarded against fraud or illegal interference. He further stressed that state governments, under the US Constitution, have a duty to ensure election integrity while adhering to federal laws that prohibit illegal voting, discrimination, and electoral fraud.

“The right of American citizens to have their votes properly counted and tabulated, without illegal dilution, is vital to determining the rightful winner of an election,” Trump asserted in the order.

Additionally, the executive order calls for stricter enforcement of federal election laws, specifically:

Prohibiting states from counting ballots received after Election Day

Preventing non-citizens from registering to vote

Strengthening voter identification measures
