Mumbai: Former world champion Prashant More of Reserve Bank continued his impressive run in the 23rd Mumbai Mayor’s Cup District Ranking Carrom Tournament by defeating Indian Oil’s Mohammed Ghufran in a hard-fought three-set quarter-final clash at the Lokmanya Mandal Banquet Hall in Matunga.
Prashant lost the opening set 14-25 but staged a remarkable comeback in the second set with dominant white slams on the fourth and sixth boards to register a commanding 25-1 victory and level the match.
In the deciding set, the experienced campaigner maintained complete control and once again defeated Ghufran 25-1 to book his place in the semi-finals.
In the women’s singles category, Mithali Pathak, Simran Shinde, Ayesha Sajid Khan and Sonali Kumari advanced to the semi-finals after convincing performances.
