Poll strategist-turned-activist Prashant Kishor, in a sharp rebuke of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, claimed that the veteran leader is not mentally or physically fit to govern the state. Kishor’s attack comes just a day before the official launch of his new political party, Jan Suraaj.
In an interview on Tuesday, Kishor compared the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) current support for Nitish Kumar to the Congress’ past alliance with Lalu Prasad Yadav, predicting that the BJP would face similar consequences for backing Kumar. “The Congress helped Lalu Prasad run a ‘jungle raj’ for 15 years. The people of Bihar completely uprooted the Congress. The BJP will suffer the same fate,” he said, hinting at a future political downfall for the saffron party in the state.
Kishor went further, stating that the people of Bihar are ready to sideline both major alliances and will instead hand his new party an absolute majority in the next assembly elections. His confidence stems from his belief that both Nitish Kumar and the political structure backing him have lost touch with the electorate.
“Nitish Kumar isn’t in the right physical, mental, or political state to run Bihar,” he claimed, accusing the BJP of continuing to support Kumar out of “political compulsion.” He argued that the BJP is aware of its weakening position under Nitish Kumar’s leadership but remains bound to the alliance due to strategic reasons. “It knows that its alliance will lose if he remains at the helm, but it is the political compulsion of the BJP,” Kishor added.
Kishor also pointed out Kumar’s absence from public life, further questioning his capability to continue leading the state. His remarks signal a bitter political fight as Kishor seeks to carve out a new political landscape in Bihar with the launch of Jan Suraaj.
Kishor’s comments mark a significant moment in Bihar’s political arena, where Nitish Kumar has been a dominant force for years. As the state gears up for upcoming political battles, Kishor’s new party is set to challenge the existing power structures and alliances.
