Patna: Former political strategist and Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor on Wednesday dismissed allegations regarding the funding of his party, asserting that his financial resources come from his intellect. His remarks were a response to JD(U) spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar, who had alleged that Kishor’s party was being funded by a Bengaluru-based charitable organisation and accused him of potential tax fraud.

“Some people are questioning where I get the money to run this party. Money comes to me by virtue of my intellect. Anybody blessed by Goddess Saraswati is sure to receive blessings from Goddess Laxmi as well,” Kishor said at a party event.

Kishor, who has worked with political leaders across parties, clarified that he had never held a government position, been a contractor, or served as an MP or MLA. “All that I have earned, I owe to my intellect. My earnings shall ensure that money does not remain a problem for the youth of Bihar,” he added, pledging to bear the election expenses of Jan Suraaj Party candidates who lack financial resources.

In a veiled attack on the BJP, Kishor accused the ruling party of concentrating wealth in Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. “Would only the youth of Gujarat have all the money? Even though power is achieved with votes of the youth of Bihar? This will not be tolerated anymore. The youth of Bihar is not going to be a source of cheap labour forever,” he said.

Interestingly, Kishor began his career as a political strategist in 2012, working on Modi’s Gujarat Assembly election campaign. He also played a key role in the BJP’s 2014 Lok Sabha election campaign, which resulted in a landslide victory.
