Faisal Karim Kundi, the Information Secretary of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), declared on Thursday that party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is set to contest the upcoming elections as the candidate for the position of prime minister. Additionally, former President Asif Ali Zardari will be nominated for the role of president, as reported by Dawn.
Kundi’s statement comes in the wake of recent comments by Zardari, who had previously hinted that the party had not yet concluded on its nominee for the prime ministerial position. When pressed about the potential candidates, Zardari had mentioned Bilawal, himself, or Khurshid Shah as potential contenders.
During a media briefing in Islamabad, Faisal Kundi solidified Bilawal’s candidacy for the prime minister’s seat, expressing the party’s aspiration to replicate the scenario witnessed in the 2018 elections. The party aims to see Asif Zardari ascend to the presidency once again, according to the Dawn report.
