Bengaluru: In the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwara announced heightened security measures across the state as per fresh directives issued by the Centre.

“After this incident (Pahalgam terror attack), the government of India has given special instructions to all the states and Armed Forces to scrutinise all vessels coming into our waters and borders. For the security of the nation, we all stand by the government and the security forces. We will be taking all steps to maintain internal security,” said Dr. Parameshwara, underlining Karnataka’s commitment to national safety.

The directive follows the Pahalgam attack which has raised nationwide concerns over potential infiltration threats. States have been asked to tighten vigilance at coastlines, borders, and all entry points to prevent any security lapses.

On a separate issue, the Home Minister addressed the ongoing caste survey in Karnataka. He noted that while the process is still underway, public response has led to reconsideration of the existing timeline.
“The survey is not yet complete. Several organisations have requested us to extend the date. The Commission will decide now,” he stated, signalling the possibility of a deadline extension.

The caste survey, which has been a subject of significant political and social interest in Karnataka, is aimed at better understanding the socio-economic conditions of different communities in the state.
