Prayagraj: As Delhi heads to the polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj tomorrow. His visit comes just days after a tragic stampede at the Mahakumbh Mela near Sangam left at least 30 dead and nearly 60 injured during the ‘amrit snan’ (royal bath) on Mauni Amavasya.

According to the schedule, PM Modi will arrive at Prayagraj Airport at 10:05 am before traveling to the DPS helipad. He will then reach Areal Ghat at 10:45 am and take a boat to Mahakumbh, where he will perform the ritual bath at Sangam Ghat from 11:00 to 11:30 am. Following this, he will return to Areal Ghat and head back to Prayagraj Airport, departing on an Air Force plane at 12:30 pm.

During his visit, the prime minister is expected to interact with saints and review arrangements for the Mahakumbh 2025, which is set to welcome millions of devotees.

Meanwhile, February 5 holds religious significance for many Hindus, as it marks Magh Ashtami and Bhishma Ashtami. On this day, devotees take ritual baths at the Triveni Sangam, offer alms, and meditate. The day is also associated with Gupt Navratri, a period of deep spiritual practice. Bhishma Ashtami commemorates the Mahabharata warrior Bhishma Pitamah, who chose to leave his mortal body when the Sun entered Uttarayan.
