Patna: As Bihar prepares for the first phase of assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress-RJD alliance, accusing Congress of conspiring to destroy its own ally for political gain.

Addressing a massive rally in Saharsa, PM Modi declared, “Congress ne RJD ki lutiya dubane ki supari li hai” — Congress has taken a contract to sink RJD. He said that the Congress and RJD were bound not by ideology but by the greed for power.

Taking a sharp dig at RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, the Prime Minister claimed that Congress was “forced at gunpoint” to accept him as the chief ministerial face of the INDIA bloc. He warned that the “jungle raj people” were heading toward a historic defeat in the upcoming Bihar elections.

PM Modi appealed to first-time voters to support the NDA, assuring them that Bihar’s development journey would continue under stable governance. “When I voted for the first time, I could feel the wave of change — today, you must create the same wave for Bihar’s progress,” he said.

The Prime Minister also accused the Congress-led UPA government of taking revenge on Bihar after the NDA formed its government in the state in 2005. Highlighting developmental delays, Modi pointed out that the Kosi Mahasetu — whose foundation was laid by former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2003 — was only inaugurated in 2020, after the NDA government came to power at the Centre in 2014.

Further criticizing the RJD-Congress rule, Modi said that during their tenure, projects meant to benefit flood-affected regions like Saharsa, Supaul, Madhepura, and Araria were stalled, causing immense hardship to the people. “It was only after 2014 that the NDA government allocated over ₹11,000 crore for flood control and embankment strengthening projects in the Kosi, Bagmati, and Gandak river basins,” he added.
