Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a scathing critique of the Congress party during his address at the National PM Vishwakarma Programme in Wardha, Maharashtra, asserting that the party’s leaders have insulted the nation with their remarks made during foreign visits. In a thinly veiled attack on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Modi condemned recent speeches criticizing the central government made abroad, saying, “The spirit of patriotism has died in today’s Congress.”

Modi characterized the Congress party as one that has succumbed to a “ghost of hatred,” accusing its members of promoting an “anti-national agenda” while abroad. He referenced their language and actions as being reminiscent of groups he labeled the “Tukde Tukde Gang” and “Urban Naxals.” The Prime Minister noted past incidents, including the Karnataka government’s handling of a Ganesh idol, to illustrate what he described as Congress’s disconnect with Indian culture.

A Legacy of Lies and Deception

“Congress means lies, deception, and dishonesty,” Modi asserted, highlighting the party’s broken promises to farmers in Telangana who are still struggling to have their loans waived. He described the Congress as the most corrupt party in the nation, stating, “If there is any most corrupt family in the country, then it is the royal family of Congress.”

The Prime Minister went on to address the Congress’s alleged negligence towards vulnerable groups, claiming the NDA government has worked to eliminate the party’s “anti-backward” thinking. “We have eliminated this anti-Dalit and anti-backward thinking of Congress from the government system,” he stated, highlighting that SC, ST, and OBC communities have benefitted from the Vishwakarma Yojana.

Cotton Farmers and Economic Growth

Furthering his criticism, Modi accused the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra of pushing cotton farmers into “misery.” He argued that instead of supporting farmers, Congress engaged in political games and corruption. The Prime Minister touted the current government’s initiatives, such as the PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel Park in Amravati, which he claimed would revitalize India’s textile industry and restore its historical glory.

Modi emphasized the importance of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana as a pathway to empower artisans and utilize India’s rich traditional skills. He celebrated its one-year anniversary, recalling Mahatma Gandhi’s campaign against untouchability initiated on the same date in 1932. He expressed his belief that the Vishwakarma Yojana would energize the nation’s development ambitions.

Vision for a Powerful India

During the event, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed optimism for India’s future under Modi’s leadership, asserting that the nation would become a superpower. “The 21st century is India’s century; we also say the same because the captain of the country is Narendra Modi,” Shinde declared.

In a show of support for artisans, PM Modi released certificates and loans to PM Vishwakarma beneficiaries, symbolizing the government’s commitment to uplift traditional skills. He also unveiled a commemorative stamp marking the programme’s progress.

Additionally, Modi laid the foundation stone for the PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park in Amravati, a significant 1000-acre project aimed at boosting the textile sector in Maharashtra. The Prime Minister also launched the “Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Women Startup Scheme,” which will provide financial assistance to women-led startups in the state.

As the event concluded, Modi reiterated the importance of unity and development, positioning the government’s efforts as a roadmap to a prosperous and empowered India.
