PM Modi Pushes for Consensus, Seeks Unanimous Support for CP Radhakrishnan

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged all political parties to extend unanimous support to the NDA’s Vice Presidential nominee, CP Radhakrishnan, calling him a leader who embodies simplicity and service to the nation. The appeal was made at the National Democratic Alliance’s Parliamentary Party meeting in New Delhi, where Radhakrishnan was officially presented before MPs.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, briefing the media after the meeting, said the Prime Minister emphasized that Radhakrishnan’s unblemished career makes him a worthy choice for the second-highest constitutional post in the country. “There is no controversy in his life, no corruption, no stain. He has lived for society and the country. If such a person becomes Vice President, it will bring great pride and happiness to India,” Rijiju quoted Modi as saying.

Party sources added that the Prime Minister’s appeal was not only directed at NDA allies but also extended to Opposition MPs, reflecting his push to secure a consensus candidate for the election. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has already begun outreach to Opposition leaders to explore the possibility of building unanimity.

Radhakrishnan, a two-time MP from Coimbatore and former BJP Tamil Nadu chief, has been positioned by the party as a clean and grassroots leader whose elevation would also underline the NDA’s growing focus on southern India.
