PM Modi Hails Monsoon’s Economic Impact, Lauds Unified Global Campaign Against Pahalgam Massacre in Parliament Address

New Delhi: Addressing the opening of the Monsoon Session of Parliament on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi touched upon two significant developments—India’s promising monsoon season and the nation’s united diplomatic response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir.

Calling the monsoon a “symbol of innovation and new creation”, the Prime Minister expressed optimism over its widespread benefits. “As per the news received so far, the season is progressing very well in the country. Reports suggest it has been beneficial for agriculture,” Modi said. “Rain is not just important for our farmers, but also for the country’s economy, the rural economy—and in fact, the economy of every household,” he added.

The Prime Minister’s remarks come at a time when a strong agricultural output is expected to ease food prices and boost rural income. Government data indicates increased sowing activity across major agrarian states, signaling a healthy start to the kharif crop cycle.

In a more serious tone, PM Modi also addressed the recent massacre in Pahalgam, terming it a “brutal act that has shaken the conscience of the world.” The attack, which left several civilians dead in Jammu & Kashmir, has sparked outrage both domestically and internationally.

Commending the collective response of Indian political parties, Modi said, “Keeping party interests aside, in the interest of the country, representatives of most of our parties visited many countries and ran a successful campaign to expose Pakistan’s support for terrorism. I want to appreciate all those MPs and all parties for this important work done in national interest.”

The Prime Minister’s statement drew wide applause across the House and was seen as a rare acknowledgment of bipartisan cooperation. He noted that the global diplomatic push had helped present a united front, strengthening India’s case on international platforms and enhancing its moral authority in combating cross-border terrorism.

As the Monsoon Session unfolds, the government is expected to table key legislation related to agriculture, internal security, and economic development.
