Aurangabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday praised the people of Bihar for the record voter turnout in the first phase of the Assembly elections, calling it a “testament to the people’s confidence in the double-engine government of development led by the NDA.”

Addressing a massive rally in Aurangabad, the Prime Minister said the historic voter participation reflected the people’s faith in the “Modi-Nitish track record” of progress and governance. “When people vote in such large numbers, it means they trust our intent and performance. The NDA has consistently delivered on its promises — from the Ram Temple to the abrogation of Article 370,” he said, as supporters erupted in applause.

PM Modi also lauded the Election Commission of India for conducting the elections smoothly and ensuring maximum voter engagement in the first phase. He predicted that the strong turnout was an early sign of a “massive NDA victory.”

Taking sharp aim at the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) of the Congress and RJD, Modi said their alliance represented “a return to corruption, lawlessness, and betrayal.” He reminded voters of the era before 2005, when Bihar was plagued by “Jungle Raj, kidnappings, and terror.”

“These are the same people who once held Bihar hostage to fear. Between 1990 and 2005, Bihar suffered from caste violence, abductions, and Naxal terror. Roads turned deserted after sunset, and buses had to pay extortion money for safe passage,” the Prime Minister recalled.

Modi accused the Congress-RJD combine of political hypocrisy and internal distrust. “The RJD has given Congress only those seats where it hasn’t won for nearly four decades. Even their CM face was chosen under pressure. If they can betray their own partners, what will they do for Bihar’s people?” he said.
