Bengaluru: Bengaluru witnessed a significant boost to its transport infrastructure on Sunday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off services of three Vande Bharat Express trains and inaugurated the Yellow Line Metro. The event was attended by Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna, Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, and BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra. Passengers and onlookers cheered and raised slogans in support of the Prime Minister as the trains began their journey.

Once Phase 3 of the Metro begins, around 10 lakh people will commute daily. Similarly, the Yellow Line Metro, inaugurated today, will benefit 18 lakh residents of Bengaluru South.”
Surya added that PM Modi had personally ensured the projects were not delayed: “I had requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the Yellow Line Metro Project. He said any further delay was unacceptable as the Metro services would ease Bengaluru’s traffic congestion. He fixed the date in just seven to eight days.”
