PM Modi Flags Off Three Vande Bharat Trains and Yellow Line Metro in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Bengaluru witnessed a significant boost to its transport infrastructure on Sunday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off services of three Vande Bharat Express trains and inaugurated the Yellow Line Metro. The ceremony took place at the Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) Railway Station, where the Prime Minister launched the new Vande Bharat service connecting Bengaluru to Belagavi in Karnataka.

After arriving at the station, PM Modi boarded the train, interacted warmly with students and children on board, and waved to railway staff and passengers. The new service, hailed as a boon for commuters, will connect the state capital to Belagavi, improving travel for eight districts across north and south Karnataka. The train will operate six days a week and marks the 11th Vande Bharat service for the state.

In addition to the Bengaluru–Belagavi route, PM Modi also flagged off two other Vande Bharat services — Amritsar to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra in Jammu & Kashmir, and Nagpur (Ajni) to Pune in Maharashtra.

The event was attended by Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna, Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, and BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra. Passengers and onlookers cheered and raised slogans in support of the Prime Minister as the trains began their journey.

Following the railway event, PM Modi travelled to the R.V. Road (Ragigudda) Metro Station to inaugurate Bengaluru’s Yellow Line Metro, taking a symbolic ride to the Electronics City Metro Station. At the IIIT Auditorium in Electronics City, he also laid the foundation stone for Metro Phase 3, which aims to further expand the city’s rapid transit network.

BJP National Yuva Morcha President and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya expressed gratitude, saying, “The Prime Minister is dedicating two significant projects to the people of the city. Once Phase 3 of the Metro begins, around 10 lakh people will commute daily. Similarly, the Yellow Line Metro, inaugurated today, will benefit 18 lakh residents of Bengaluru South.”

Surya added that PM Modi had personally ensured the projects were not delayed: “I had requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the Yellow Line Metro Project. He said any further delay was unacceptable as the Metro services would ease Bengaluru’s traffic congestion. He fixed the date in just seven to eight days.”

He concluded with, “I congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of the people of Bengaluru and Karnataka.”
