Prime Minister Introduces Leaner Convoy Model While Maintaining SPG Security Protocols
Narendra Modi has reportedly initiated changes to the movement pattern of his official convoy by reducing the number of accompanying vehicles during recent domestic tours, sources said on Wednesday.
The revised convoy arrangement was seen during the Prime Minister’s visits to Gujarat and Assam following his recent address in Hyderabad. Despite the reduction in the convoy fleet, officials stated that all mandatory protection measures required under Special Protection Group (SPG) security guidelines remained fully operational.
Electric Vehicles Being Added To PM’s Official Fleet
Sources further indicated that the Prime Minister has instructed authorities to incorporate electric vehicles into his convoy wherever operationally feasible. Officials clarified that the move is being implemented without additional procurement of new vehicles.
The initiative is being viewed as part of the government’s broader push toward fuel conservation, reduced import dependence and environmentally sustainable transport practices.
PM Links Patriotism With Everyday Responsibility
During a public event in Secunderabad earlier this week, Modi underlined that patriotism today extends beyond military sacrifice and includes responsible civic behaviour in daily life.
“Patriotism is not only about the willingness to sacrifice one’s life on the border. In these times, it is about living responsibly and fulfilling our duties to the nation in our daily lives,” the Prime Minister said.
He urged citizens to contribute toward economic resilience by reducing unnecessary fuel consumption and adopting cleaner alternatives such as electric vehicles, public transport and carpooling.
Call To Reduce Fuel And Edible Oil Imports
The Prime Minister also highlighted India’s heavy dependence on imported petroleum products and edible oils, saying collective behavioural changes by citizens could significantly reduce pressure on foreign exchange reserves.
“The same is true for edible oil. We have to spend foreign currency on its import. If every household reduces the use of edible oil, it is a huge contribution to patriotism,” Modi said.
Push For Natural Farming And Lower Fertiliser Usage
Alongside transport and fuel conservation, Modi appealed to farmers to gradually move toward natural farming methods and reduce excessive use of chemical fertilisers.
He noted that India spends substantial foreign currency on fertiliser imports and stressed that sustainable agricultural practices would benefit both the economy and the environment.
The Prime Minister’s remarks form part of a broader outreach encouraging citizens to adopt resource-efficient habits amid global supply disruptions and rising import costs.
