New Delh: In the aftermath of the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, that claimed the lives of 28 people — mostly tourists — Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently presiding over a crucial meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) at his official residence in the national capital.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, and other key officials are in attendance, as the government weighs its response to one of the worst terror attacks in the Valley since Pulwama in 2019.

The terrorist outfit The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for the carnage that occurred on Tuesday in Pahalgam’s Baisaran meadow, a popular tourist destination in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Earlier in the day, Home Minister Amit Shah visited Srinagar to meet the families of the victims and survivors of the attack. He also held discussions with senior security and intelligence officials on the ground.
