Samba (Jammu & Kashmir): Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 22nd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi on Thursday, transferring ₹18,650 crore directly to the bank accounts of more than 9.32 crore farmers across India.
The instalment was released during an event in Guwahati and the programme was live-streamed across districts.
In Samba, a live telecast programme was organised at the DC Office Complex, Nandini Hills, by the Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Department.
According to officials, 21,447 farmers in Samba district received a total of ₹4.289 crore under the scheme, credited directly to their bank accounts.
Devinder Kumar Manyal attended the programme and joined the live address of the Prime Minister.
Several officials from the Agriculture Department were present at the event, including Additional Deputy Commissioner and PM-KISAN Nodal Officer Jagdish Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer Dr Rakesh Khajuria, District Agriculture Officer Sanjay Kumar Badyal and other officers.
Around 96 farmers participated in the programme, listening to the Prime Minister’s address through live telecast. Similar events were also organised at block and panchayat levels across the district to inform farmers about the scheme.
The PM-KISAN scheme provides financial assistance to eligible farmers through direct benefit transfer (DBT), with instalments deposited directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
