New Delhi: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) working president and MP Supriya Sule criticized the central government for its failure to ensure smooth functioning of the Parliament during the ongoing session. Speaking to the media in New Delhi, she said, “The responsibility of ensuring the Parliament runs smoothly lies with the ruling party. Unfortunately, the government has failed to fulfill this responsibility, leaving citizens disappointed.”

Sule expressed her concern over the disruption in parliamentary proceedings, stating, “Parliament is a place to discuss critical issues related to the states, the nation, and foreign affairs. However, constant chaos and lack of discussion are deeply unsettling. While opposition protests are a part of democracy, it is unprecedented to see ruling party members also staging protests. Differences of opinion are natural, but in a strong democracy, discussions in Parliament are essential.”

On the recent attack on the Congress office in Maharashtra, Sule described the visuals as disturbing and condemned the act as an example of lawlessness. She said, “Such hooliganism is unacceptable in Maharashtra. The state has always upheld the rule of law, and the government must take immediate steps to address this law and order crisis.”

Law and Order Concerns in Maharashtra

Sule raised concerns about the growing instances of violence and unrest in Maharashtra. Referring to the lack of a Home Minister in the state government, she said, “Despite receiving a significant mandate, the ruling alliance has yet to appoint a Home Minister. The Chief Minister must act promptly to restore order and address the rising lawlessness.”

Citing specific incidents, including the murder of Santosh Deshmukh, the sarpanch of Masajog village in Beed, Sule called for a thorough investigation. She added, “Merely transferring police officers will not solve the issue. There must be a comprehensive inquiry to uncover any external pressures on the police. The real masterminds behind such crimes cannot be allowed to roam free while only junior officers are held accountable.”

Sule also pointed to recurring violent incidents in Baramati and Kalyan. Referring to a recent case in Kalyan where a Marathi resident was brutally attacked with iron rods amidst anti-Marathi slurs, she said, “Such incidents reflect a deteriorating law and order situation. Ordinary citizens are living in fear. The state government must take immediate and serious action to ensure the rule of law is upheld.”

“Urgent Action Needed to Restore Law and Order”

Sule concluded by urging the Maharashtra government to address these pressing issues, ensure justice, and work towards re-establishing the state’s reputation for maintaining law and order.
