Panic on Mumbai-Delhi Garib Rath as Engine Catches Fire Near Sendra, Over 500 Passengers Safe

Sendra: Panic gripped passengers onboard the Mumbai-Delhi Garib Rath Express (12216) in the early hours of Saturday when a fire broke out in the train’s engine near Sendra Railway Station, close to Beawar, around 3:00 am. The incident halted movement along the crucial Ajmer–Beawar rail route, leading to hours of service disruption and major delays.

The train, which was traveling from Bandra Terminus in Mumbai to Sarai Rohilla Junction in Delhi, was approaching Ajmer when thick smoke began emanating from the engine. Over 500 passengers were aboard at the time. Fortunately, the train was moving slowly, allowing the loco pilot to bring it to a safe halt.

Alert passengers noticed the smoke first and quickly informed the crew. In a timely response, the loco pilot stopped the train and initiated emergency protocols. Passengers were safely evacuated, and no injuries have been reported.

Videos circulating online show the charred remains of the engine as firefighters and railway officials conduct cooling operations. A railway spokesperson, quoted by Dainik Bhaskar, confirmed that the fire was contained to the engine and did not spread to any of the coaches.

Emergency teams from Ajmer, including engineers and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, rushed to the site. Preliminary findings suggest a technical glitch or an electrical short circuit could have triggered the fire.

Your idea is outstanding; the issue is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.
