Panic Averted as Saudia Flight with 250 Hajj Pilgrims Escapes Mishap at Lucknow Airport, All Safe

Lucknow: A potential disaster was narrowly avoided on Sunday morning at Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport when a Saudia Airlines aircraft carrying 250 Hajj pilgrims from Jeddah experienced a technical fault during landing. As the aircraft was taxiing on the runway after touchdown, smoke and sparks were suddenly seen emerging from the left wheel, creating panic among passengers and airport personnel.

Responding swiftly, the pilot brought the aircraft to a complete stop, and the airport’s Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) team immediately rushed to the spot. Within 20 minutes, the situation was fully brought under control. The quick coordination between the ARFF and Saudia’s technical team ensured that the aircraft sustained no major damage and all passengers were safely deboarded. Thankfully, no one was injured.

Confirming the incident, airport officials stated, “On the morning of 15 June, smoke was detected from the wheels of a Saudia aircraft that landed at Lucknow airport, from Jeddah. The Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) team rushed to the spot. Working with the Saudia team, the smoke was contained, and damage to the aircraft was averted. The passengers were deboarded safely and there was no impact on airport operations.”

Despite the successful containment, passengers onboard the aircraft were visibly shaken, as panic and fear gripped many while the cabin crew worked to calm the situation.
