Opposition Has No Right to Call 130th Constitutional Amendment a ‘Black Bill’, Says Amit Shah

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday delivered a sharp rebuke to opposition parties over their protests against the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha.

Addressing a press conference, Shah questioned the opposition’s objection, explaining the purpose of the bill. “What is the Constitution Bill? If any CM or Prime Minister goes to jail, they will have to resign from their post. The opposition is asking, what is the need for this bill?” he asked.

Shah cited examples from Tamil Nadu, highlighting DMK leaders who failed to resign despite being jailed. “Senior DMK ministers K Ponmudy and Senthil Balaji were in jail for eight months. They did not resign. Tell me, can you run the government while being in jail?” he remarked.

Directly targeting DMK Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Shah said, “These DMK people call the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill a black bill. Stalin Babu, you have no right to call this bill a black bill because you are a Chief Minister who does black deeds.”
