Patna: A tragic incident occurred on Friday evening near a private hospital on Bhoothnath Road in Patna, when an oxygen cylinder exploded while being unloaded, resulting in one fatality and leaving another person with serious injuries.

According to the police, the explosion occurred under the jurisdiction of the Agamkuan police station. The victim who died was reportedly the person unloading the oxygen cylinders at the time of the blast. The second victim, who sustained severe burns, lost his leg and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The explosion was so powerful that it created a mushroom cloud and a shock wave, causing widespread panic in the area. Witnesses reported that the blast was so intense it sent people running in all directions. Additionally, a scooter parked near the hospital was damaged by the blast.

An officer from the Agamkuan police station described the scene: “Oxygen cylinders were being unloaded near the hospital when the explosion occurred. The blast was so intense that everyone started running helter-skelter. The person unloading the cylinders died, while another nearby individual lost his leg and is currently hospitalized.”

A police team swiftly arrived at the scene and has launched an investigation into the cause of the explosion. Authorities are working to determine whether it was a result of mishandling, equipment failure, or another cause.
