Bengaluru: Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the Congress leadership, accusing them of spreading constant negativity and falsehoods that, according to him, have eroded their credibility among the Indian public. Goyal claimed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is no longer taken seriously by the people due to what he called a persistent campaign of misinformation.

“Nobody takes Rahul Gandhi seriously anymore because of the negativity that he, his party and his colleagues are continuously spreading. The falsehoods that they are spreading… they’ve lost the plot. They have lost the confidence of the people of India who are again and again rejecting the Congress party and their politics,” Goyal said while addressing reporters in Bengaluru.

The Union Minister also took aim at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, reacting to Kharge’s recent critical remarks on the Indian economy and global image. Goyal said that India’s economic trajectory and global stature appear to be unsettling for the Congress veteran.

“I think Mallikarjun Kharge is a senior politician, but from whatever I have experienced of his comments over the last few years, it seems the success of India, the growth story of India, the huge respect that India enjoys across the world – the fact that every country wants to expand business with India – is very disturbing for Kharge,” Goyal remarked.
