Bhopal: In a pointed political statement, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav criticized the Indian National Congress for allegedly neglecting the legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Speaking at a public event, Yadav asserted that while Dr. Ambedkar had early associations with the Congress, he was repeatedly sidelined and disrespected by the party during his lifetime.
According to CM Yadav, the Congress failed to honour Ambedkar’s legacy in any meaningful way—neither constructing a memorial at his birthplace nor giving due recognition to his immense contributions to the Indian Constitution and social justice movement.
Highlighting his government’s efforts to honour the Dalit icon, Yadav announced that the Madhya Pradesh government is constructing a grand memorial dedicated to Ambedkar with an estimated budget of ₹20 crore. He said the structure will not only serve as a tribute to Ambedkar’s life and philosophy but also provide tangible benefits to marginalized communities, particularly the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
