Patna: In a bold pre-poll push, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced that his government will generate 1 crore jobs for the youth in the next five years, while also rolling out a special economic package to attract entrepreneurs and investors to the state.
Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, Kumar highlighted his government’s track record under the Saat Nishchay-2 program, launched in 2020. “In the past five years, we have fulfilled our promise of creating employment for 50 lakh youths through government jobs and other opportunities. Now we are setting a bigger goal — 1 crore jobs in the next five years,” he declared.
Kumar emphasized that the fresh initiative is not only about direct employment but also about building a strong industrial ecosystem in Bihar. “The government is encouraging industries, startups, and self-employment. Entrepreneurs who come forward to set up industries in Bihar will receive a special economic package,” he announced.
The Chief Minister detailed several measures to make Bihar more attractive for business and industry:
- Incentives Doubled: Subsidies on capital, interest, and GST reimbursements will be increased.
- Land for Industries: Every district will have land earmarked for industrial projects.
- Free Land for Job Creators: Units generating large-scale employment will receive land at no cost.
- Faster Land Dispute Resolution: Any disputes related to industrial land allotment will be settled swiftly.
- Time-Bound Benefits: Incentives will apply to entrepreneurs who set up industries within the next six months.
Nitish Kumar asserted that these measures are part of his vision to make Bihar self-reliant, skilled, and future-ready. “The aim is to empower our youth, give them maximum opportunities, and ensure their future is secure. The government will soon issue a detailed notification to clarify all the benefits under this new initiative,” he said.
Political observers see this announcement as a strategic move ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, where jobs and migration have always been key issues. By promising a mix of employment and industrial growth, Kumar is seeking to counter criticism over lack of opportunities that has often plagued his government.
