Patna: In a rare moment of tenderness amid the charged political atmosphere in Bihar, a photograph of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar sharing a warm embrace with his son Nishant has taken social media by storm. The image, widely circulated just a day after the NDA’s emphatic victory in the Assembly elections, has added a deeply human layer to a season otherwise dominated by fierce speeches and relentless campaign battles.

The photograph shows Nishant wrapping his arms around his father with unmistakable pride, while Nitish Kumar—usually known for his measured public demeanour—returns the gesture with a broad, heartfelt smile. The results declared on November 14 delivered a massive mandate to the ruling National Democratic Alliance, which secured 202 seats and left the opposition stunned. This decisive win marks one of the most dominant performances in recent years, reaffirming the alliance’s grip over the state.

The standout story of the election, however, was the dramatic revival of the Janata Dal (United). After a disappointing tally of 43 seats in 2020, the party rebounded spectacularly, winning 85 seats this time. Analysts attribute this surge to Nitish Kumar’s calculated campaign strategy, improved organisational reach, and a deeper connect with rural voters.

Nishant’s hug, therefore, has been widely interpreted as a symbolic acknowledgement of the effort, resilience, and political acumen that fuelled JD(U)’s comeback. For many, the image represents both personal pride and public confidence restored.

Within the NDA, the BJP emerged as the single-largest party with 89 seats, followed by JD(U)’s 85. The LJP (Ram Vilas) secured 19 seats, while RLM and HAM(S) bagged four and five seats respectively—solidifying the alliance’s dominance across regions.
