Gurugram: Nissan Motor India has announced that its upcoming seven-seater B-MPV will be called GRAVITE, marking the first model to be introduced under the company’s refreshed and strategically curated product line-up for the Indian market. The GRAVITE is scheduled for a grand debut in early 2026 and signals the start of Nissan’s renewed growth push in India.
Designed specifically for Indian families, the GRAVITE focuses on versatility, modularity, and value-conscious convenience, targeting households seeking flexible mobility solutions. Nissan said the new MPV has been “purpose-built” to meet evolving family needs, offering adaptable seating, enhanced cabin space, and smart storage solutions for both daily commutes and long-distance travel.
The GRAVITE was first announced in July 2024 as the second model in Nissan Motor India’s product offensive. The company’s roadmap includes the launch of the GRAVITE in early 2026, followed by the Tekton premium SUV in mid-2026, and a seven-seater C-SUV in early 2027, underscoring Nissan’s long-term commitment to the Indian market.
Name, Design and Identity
The name GRAVITE is derived from the word “gravity,” symbolising balance, stability, and attraction. Nissan said the name reflects its design philosophy of anchoring families in comfort and connectivity, while aligning with the aspirations of Indian consumers.
In terms of design, the GRAVITE adopts Nissan’s global design language, featuring the brand’s signature C-shaped front grille for instant recognition. The MPV showcases a bold stance with horizontal proportions, muscular styling, and distinctive hood branding. Nissan claims it will be the only vehicle in its segment to feature both hood branding and unique rear-door badging, reinforcing its exclusive identity.
Manufacturing and Market Strategy
The All-New GRAVITE will be manufactured locally at Renault’s Chennai facility, strengthening Nissan’s localisation strategy and reinforcing India’s role as both a manufacturing and export hub for the alliance. Nissan also confirmed that it is accelerating the expansion of its dealership network across Tier I and Tier II cities to improve accessibility and customer experience.
Massimiliano Messina, Chairperson, Nissan AMIEO (Africa, Middle East, India, Europe & Oceania), said India remains a key contributor to the region’s performance. “With new models developed in and for India, and exports to multiple international markets, India continues to be a strategic growth hub for the Nissan Alliance,” he said.
Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, described the GRAVITE as a pivotal product in the company’s transformation journey. “Deeply rooted in the fabric of the country, the GRAVITE is designed to resonate with the aspirations of Indian consumers and marks a decisive step in our renewed focus on the Indian market,” he said.
Broader Product Momentum
Nissan highlighted the continued global success of the Magnite, which is now exported to 65 international markets, reinforcing India’s importance in the company’s global supply chain. The recently revealed Tekton premium SUV, showcased in October 2025, will further strengthen Nissan’s presence across segments.
Specifications and pricing details of the GRAVITE will be announced closer to its launch.
