Kathmandu: A peaceful protest against the recent ban on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and other social media platforms in Nepal turned violent on Monday, leaving nine people dead and several others injured. The protest took place outside the Kathmandu Parliament, where thousands of citizens gathered to express their outrage over the restrictions.
According to local authorities, demonstrators initially gathered to voice their concerns over the government’s move to block popular social media platforms, which has affected communication, business, and daily life. Tensions escalated when clashes broke out between protesters and police, resulting in a chaotic situation.
