Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Soyab, a resident of Dhauj in Faridabad, for allegedly providing logistical support to Dr Umar-un Nabi, the driver of the explosive-laden car that detonated near the Red Fort in Delhi on November 10. The attack, described as a terrorist incident by the Union Cabinet, left at least 15 people dead and over 20 injured.
According to NIA officials, Soyab, who worked as a lab assistant at Alfalah University in Faridabad, helped Umar procure chemicals from the university laboratory and facilitated his movements prior to the blast. He is accused of renting a house in Hidayat Colony, Nuh, which Umar reportedly used as a hideout and to store explosives. From there, Umar allegedly travelled via Firozpur Jhirka and the Mumbai Expressway to reach Delhi and carry out the attack near Gate Number 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station.
Soyab is the seventh person arrested in connection with the case, part of a broader ‘white-collar’ terror module uncovered by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Earlier, six other aides of the car bomber were apprehended, and the investigation continues to track additional collaborators and sponsors of the attack across multiple states.
The Haryana Special Task Force (STF) had inspected and sealed the rented house on November 16. Soyab had been under questioning for several days before his formal arrest by the NIA. Authorities are coordinating with state police units to unravel the full conspiracy behind the deadly attack.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Union Cabinet has expressed grief over the loss of lives and emphasized that investigating agencies must pursue the case with the highest urgency and professionalism. Officials affirmed that all perpetrators, accomplices, and their backers will be brought to justice swiftly.
