Vijay files nomination in Perambur, declares ₹520 crore assets, targets DMK

In a major political development in Tamil Nadu, actor-turned-politician Vijay officially entered the electoral battlefield by filing his nomination from the Perambur constituency in Chennai on Monday.

The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief expressed confidence about forming the government and urged voters to support his party’s “whistle” symbol in the upcoming April 23 elections.

₹520 Crore Assets Declared

In his election affidavit, Vijay declared total assets worth ₹520 crore.

This includes:

• Movable assets worth ₹405 crore
• Immovable assets valued at ₹115 crore

The disclosure places him among the wealthiest candidates in the electoral fray.

Sharp Attack on DMK Government

After filing his nomination, Vijay addressed supporters from an open-top campaign vehicle and launched a strong attack on the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).

He directly targeted Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, accusing his government of failing the people of Tamil Nadu.

“Left Comfort for Public Service”

Vijay said he had stepped away from a comfortable life to enter politics with the sole aim of serving the people.

He assured voters of honesty and commitment, promising that he would not mislead them and would work for their welfare.

Calls for ‘Whistle Revolution’

Positioning himself as a pro-people alternative, Vijay asked voters to choose between what he termed an “anti-people government” and his vision for better governance.

He urged citizens to bring change through what he called a “whistle revolution” via the ballot box.

Highlighting local concerns, Vijay questioned the lack of basic amenities in areas like Perambur.

He asked residents whether the current conditions reflected proper governance, raising concerns about infrastructure and living standards.
